104th Weaponry ideas/changes
The 104th battalion has seen some advanced weaponry in the form of the “Aquamarine Carbine.” While having advanced weapons for the “Mechanized” battalion is cool. The problem is that the Aquamarine Carbine is actually a weak weapon and instead of using it I always just use my DC-15S instead as it puts out way more damage and has much better accuracy.
This post is to give some other weapons the spotlight in hopes of replacing the Aquamarine or becoming a Talent Tree weapon. (If the post is too long then skip to the rulings for each weapon (in red)
How I format each weapon for judgment.
Weapon Name: Description of the weapon and what it does. How this weapon would work in events/PVE. How this weapon would work in PVP. Ruling on how strong the weapon is overall and if it would be better as a replacement to the Aquamarine, or as a Talent Tree weapon.
Other info: All weapons are coming from the “Draken257’s Sci-Fi Armory” addon, I don’t cover all weapons in the addon, only ones that seems more “technological” and fitting for the 104th battalion.
Hornet flechette rifle: This weapon fires “flechettes” that stick to surfaces or enemies and shortly explode after being on the surface for a few seconds, dealing more damage and having increased range if more than one flechette is pinned to a target. This weapon is definitely a strong weapon against NPCs as it handles clusters of enemies very well with it's slight AOE, against higher health enemies however the weapon is not nearly as effective. For PVP the weapon is a good choice as long as the user is actually landing their shots since the damage is not bad. Ruling: Balanced in PVE against weak enemies, Balanced-Weak against players. This weapon would work better as a replacement to the Aquamarine Carbine.
ARX Vapor Cannon: This weapon fires round, medium sized projectiles that cost 2 ammo (from a maximum of 30 per clip) and deals AOE damage upon colliding with a surface or enemy, along with the ability to destroy props. The primary fire is good, but the weapon is best known for it's secondary fire, which fires a large, fast moving projectile that hits in an immense AOE range for heavy damage on any target caught in the blast. During events or against NPCs, this weapon will completely destroy enemies as the damage from primary fire is high and the secondary fire can wipe out entire groups of enemies with ease. The problem for events is that the immense AOE can easily damage friendlies and cause bleeding. In PVP this weapon is just as strong. The secondary fire can deal around 720 damage without armor, 600 with 100 armor. Ruling: Very Strong in PVE, Very Strong in PVP. this weapon should it be added would have to be a Talent Tree weapon at the very bottom of the tree, requiring a lot of points to actually reach and unlock.
ARX.2 Falling Star Cannon: This weapon has a clip of 30, consumes 1 ammo per primary shot, 15 ammo for each secondary charge shot. The primary fire seeks out targets that are in the crosshair when fired. The actual shots themselves if fired at anything that isn’t an NPC or player will just move around randomly for around 1.5 seconds before fading away. Though the shots themselves have a small AOE. The secondary fire shoots a projectile with a somewhat large AOE dealing 40 damage and stunning anyone caught in it's range. The stun itself keeps anyone caught in it from moving, looking around, and using a weapon or item. In PVE the weapon is a decent option only because the seeking projectiles could target friendly players and the secondary could cause more trouble for friendlies than enemies. The secondary however does not stun NPCs in any form and is best used for it's AOE damage. In PVP the stun is actually useful but the damage is beaten out by most other weapons. Ruling: Balanced-Weak in PVE, Balanced in PVP. This weapon would make for a decent Talent Tree weapon.
ASR-5 Storm Shotgun: This shotgun is a pump shotgun that holds only 1 shot per clip, but the reload is a standard shotgun pump (for lack of better words) making for easy reload. The primary fire fires a spread of 8 pellets, each dealing 6 damage per pellet. Secondary fire (Mouse 2) Aims down the shotguns sights but when fired while aiming, fires pellets in a burst fire. For PVE this weapon is a decent choice mainly because the damage is relatively low per shot even if all pellets make contact but for it's almost lack of a reload makes up for it slightly. In PVP the weapon is even weaker due to players having increased health and actually having armor. Ruling: Weak in PVE, Very Weak in PVP. This weapon would be better as a replacement for the Aquamarine.
HS12-CF Ember Pistol: This pistol is a medium-close range weapon firing a constant beam of Plasma. The pistol does NOT require ammo as it has it's own self regenerating ammo.it deals 12-26 damage per second and has a chance to ignite enemies/props. For PVE the weapon is only good for close range encounters as it has no real long range capabilities but is mainly a single target weapon. It can deal a decent amount of damage and has a very small AOE, enough to hit two enemies standing next to each other. In PVP it is once again only good for close range encounters. The damage while not terrible is beaten by primary weapons, but for a pistol the weapon is not bad. Ruling: Balanced-Weak in PVE, Balanced-Weak in PVP. This weapon would work well as a replacement for the Aquamarine.
HS20-40 Seraphim Shotgun: This shotgun unlike Storm Shotgun holds a max of 16 ammo before having to reload, consumes 2 ammo per shot, and is semi-auto instead of pump action. Each shot fires 8 pellets dealing 6 damage per pellet. This weapon also has a chance of igniting an enemy and has the ability to destroy some props. For PVE the weapon is a good choice for close range as the shotgun can be fired quickly before needing to reload. For PVP the weapon remains a good close range weapon as the semi-auto fire allows for high amounts of damage to be put out before reloading. Ruling: Balanced for PVE, Balanced for PVP. This shotgun makes for a good Talent Tree weapon.
HS200-X Pyre Grenade Launcher: This grenade launcher fires 1 shot at a time, reloading in between shots. Each shot deals 120 damage and can destroy some props. The grenades themselves explode upon impact with an enemy but if fired at a surface will explode a few seconds after hitting the surface. The grenades are well suited for close range but can be used for long range as well. For PVE this weapon is an excellent choice for clusters of enemies as the AOE is somewhat large and the damage is very good. For PVP the launcher is a good choice mainly for close range since at long range players will almost always move and try to dodge the grenades. Ruling: Balanced-Strong in PVE, Strong for PVP. This weapon would make for a good Talent Tree weapon.
HS24 Heat Wave Light Rifle: The Heat Wave fires in a burst rather than full-auto, has a 32 ammo clip, and has a chance to ignite enemies when fired. The weapon is a good choice for PVE as the weapon puts out solid damage per burst and can light enemies on fire. For PVP the weapon is still a good choice due to high DPS and the possible extra damage from fire. Ruling: Balanced in PVE, Balanced in PVP. This weapon makes for a good replacement for the Aquamarine.
HS24 Sapphire Light Rifle: Another burst fire rifle with a 32 ammo clip. Instead of having the ability to ignite enemies however, this rifle has a lifesteal effect. The damage is relatively low on the weapon however. For PVE this weapon is a good choice if the user is looking more towards self sustainability instead of damage as the damage is low. For PVP this weapon is not a very good choice as the low damage won’t be doing much killing and the lifesteal effect would be easily out damaged by someone using something like a DC15-A. Ruling: Balanced-Weak for PVE, Weak in PVP. This weapon would make for a good replacement for the Aquamarine.
RK22 Hellfire SMG: A full-auto SMG that deals low damage but guarantees that the target is set on fire when hit. Has a clip size of 30 and has an alternate fire (used by holding E then using Left Mouse) that fires a grenade that upon making contact with a surface or enemy creates a large fire that deals high continuous damage to anyone that stands in it along with lighting the target on fire. For PVE the weapon is a good option for close quarter scenarios, but can work for long range scenarios as well. Since primary shots can go a long distance and secondary fire grenades can travel a good distance too. For PVP the weapon is very good due to the 100% chance to light a target on fire with the primary fire. The secondary fire only adds to this as the grenades have a large AOE and can even have a bit of Area Denial to them since they leave a large fire wherever they explode. Ruling: Strong in PVE, Strong in PVP. This weapon would make for a good Talent Tree weapon
T3i Blizzard SMG: Another full-auto SMG that deals more damage than the Hellfire SMG per shot, but only has a 40% chance to inflict freeze on a target. This SMG also has a 40 round clip and includes a different alternate fire as opposed to the Hellfire. This weapon's alternate fire shoots in a very close range cone in front of the user, consuming 10 ammo and freezing any target standing close enough. In PVE the weapon is a good choice since the damage is not bad, the freeze effect only keeps NPCs from moving however, they can still shoot you while frozen. In PVP this weapon is very good since it can keep players in place almost indefinitely. Ruling: Balanced-weak in PVE, Very Strong in PVP. This weapon would make for a good Talent Tree weapon.
T3i Cryon Ice Grenade: This grenade is exactly how it sounds. A grenade with the ability to freeze whatever is caught in the blast. The grenade itself does not do much damage but has a 100% chance to freeze whatever is hit by it. For PVE it's a decent weapon since freeze doesn't keep NPCs from shooting at you. For PVP it's a good weapon that can halt a group enemy players all together. Which is very good for team encounters and solo encounters since frozen Ruling: Balanced-Weak in PVE, Strong in PVP. This would make for a good Talent Tree weapon.
T3i AC23 Thunderbolt Arc Emitter: This weapon is essentially a lightning flamethrower with the ability to arc to other nearby targets and increase damage as more targets are caught in the arc. The weapon has a low base damage but deals immense damage to shields. For PVE this weapon is good against groups of enemies as the damage increases when lightning arcs from enemy to enemy at the cost of having to be close to the enemy. For PVP the weapon is a good choice as a player's armor would be gone fast, allowing you to switch to a different weapon for damage. Ruling: Balanced in PVE, Balanced-Weak in PVP. This weapon would be a good replacement for the Aquamarine.
My personal best loadout would have to be: Thunderbolt to Replace the Aquamarine, and the Sapphire Light Rifle for a talent tree weapon.
